Turn an idea into clear goals, requirements, priorities and acceptance criteria.
Start with the problem to be solved, the people who will use the product and the outcome the organization expects. List essential functions separately from useful future ideas. Examples, sketches and existing workflows often communicate needs better than technical terms.
For each important feature, describe who uses it, what they need to do, what information is required and what a successful result looks like. Identify languages, devices, integrations, accessibility, security, reporting and data-migration needs early. Agree on who supplies content and who approves decisions.
Divide delivery into reviewable stages. Test with realistic scenarios and record acceptance criteria before development is considered complete. Plan ongoing hosting, monitoring, backups, software updates, content changes and user support. Requirements may evolve, but documenting changes helps everyone understand their effect on time, cost and risk.
